Frequently asked questions

Some things are just easier to know before you arrive.

Browse the questions below for the practical stuff – what to expect, how to prepare, and what happens if plans change. If something isn’t covered here, just reach out. We’re always happy to answer directly.

Before you arrive

Right here is fine. You don’t need to know which treatment you want before reaching out — that’s what we’re here for. Send us a WhatsApp, tell us a little about what you’re carrying, and we’ll guide you to the right session. There are no wrong answers and no pressure.
Drink water, eat lightly, and give yourself a little buffer time so you’re not rushing. Arriving a few minutes early means your session can begin without you still mentally being in the car. Please avoid heavily fragranced products on the day – we work with essential oils and your skin will thank you.
Using a combination of deep tissue work, trigger point therapy and assisted stretching, this massage is designed to improve mobility, reduce inflammation, and accelerate healing. Each session is tailored to your specific needs – whether it’s injury prevention, rehabilitation, or enhancing overall movement.

Feel stronger, move better, and recover faster with the focused care of remedial sports massage.

Yes, on your first visit we’ll complete a brief health history with you. This helps us understand your body, any conditions or medications and what your session should focus on. It stays completely confidential.

During your session

Only as much as you’re comfortable with. Some people like to be completely undressed while others prefer to keep underwear on. Your comfort and sense of safety matter above everything else.

You will be professionally draped throughout your session – only the area being worked on is ever uncovered. If you have any concerns, just say so before or during your treatment. We will always adjust.

Absolutely – or not at all. Some people find conversation helpful; others drop into silence and stay there. Follow what feels right for you. Your practitioner will check in gently at the start and during the session, but there’s no expectation either way.
Say something – immediately and without hesitation. More pressure, less pressure, a different area entirely – feedback is welcomed, not an inconvenience. Your session is shaped around you and that includes in the moment.
Some treatments work into deeper tissue and you may feel intensity – but there’s a meaningful difference between productive discomfort and pain. We stay on the right side of that line. If something doesn’t feel right, we want to know.

After your session

Many people feel deeply relaxed, grounded or a little sleepy – all completely normal. Some experience mild muscle tenderness a couple days after, particularly after deeper work. Drink plenty of water and give yourself time to land before rushing back into a full day.
That depends entirely on what you’re working through. Some clients come weekly during periods of stress or recovery; others come monthly as an ongoing practice of care and maintenance. We’re happy to discuss what makes sense for your body and your life.

Practical questions

We ask for at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or changes. Late cancellations may incur a 50% fee, and no-shows are charged in full. We understand life happens – please just let us know as early as you can.
Yes, our gift vouchers are available in any value and can be used toward any treatment. Find them in our shop or reach out and we’ll help you choose something fitting.
We are not a spa. Maya Collective is a private therapeutic studio – a quieter, more intentional space than a traditional spa environment. Sessions are one-on-one with an experienced practitioner and the focus is genuine therapeutic benefit. If you’re looking for a place to truly slow down and be met where you are, you’re in the right place.
